PENSACOLA, Fla. – One day after falling one position short at Five Flags Speedway, Chandler Smith finished the job.
Smith drove to victory in Saturday’s 100-lap Blizzard Series super late model feature to earn his first victory of the season and the first of the year for Donnie Wilson Motorsports. Much like he did on Friday during a combined Southern Super Series and Blizzard Series feature, Smith dominated Saturday’s race. The difference this time is Smith was able to hold the lead all the way to the checkered flag.
He took the lead on lap 30 and would lead the rest of the way for the victory, outrunning Casey Roderick and Jake Garcia to the finish.
The victory allowed Smith to cross Five Flags Speedway off his list after multiple near misses this year. The victory was also the first for Donnie Wilson Motorsports at the Pensacola oval.
Michael Atwell finished fourth, with NASCAR Cup Series star Erik Jones finishing fifth in a car owned by B.J. McLeod and Travis Braden.
