Silvestri Secures First CARS Tour Triumph

THORNBURG, Va. – It was a race that CARS Late Model Stock Tour rookie Daniel Silvestri had circled on his calendar all season long.

Saturday night at Dominion Raceway, the youngster made the most of his return to his home track to earn his first CARS Late Model Stock Car Tour victory. The win by the rookie made it back-to-back victories by series rookies.

Veteran Mike Looney, who started from the pole, turned his bad luck around and led some laps before eventually finishing second. Fellow rookie and feature winner at Langley Speedway, Kaden Honeycutt, rounded out the podium with a third-place finish.

Silvestri wasted no time taking command of the race once the green flag was displayed for the 125-lap race. The Great Falls, Va., driver dominated a majority of the race until a caution with 42 laps remaining gave the veteran Looney a chance at the top spot.

Looney would battle on the outside, even leading on a few occasions, before Silvestri was able to dispatch him to regain the lead. With seven laps left Silvestri was able to pull away to solidify the victory.

Jared Fryar finished fourth and two-time winner this season, Justin Johnson, rounded out the top-five.

Saturday’s race was broadcast live by SPEED SPORT TV affiliate Pit Row TV.
