Majeski Nabs Another Snowball Derby

PENSACOLA, Fla. — Ty Majeski secured his second triumph in four years at the 56th Annual Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway on Sunday.

Though it was far from Majeski’s until the very end. With six laps to go in the 300-lap event, Stephen Nasse and Bubba Pollard collided while battling for the lead, promptly wiping out both drivers. Majeski slipped by on the inside lane.

From there, the reigning ASA STARS National Tour champion held off Gio Ruggiero by 1.042 seconds on the final restart to secure the victory.

Other Notes

• On lap 282, a massive pileup on a restart eliminated many competitors. Restarting from fourth, Noah Gragson missed a shift, which in turn stacked up the field.

NASCAR Cup Series drivers William Byron and Erik Jones were involved in the accident, along with polesitter and last year’s Snowball Derby winner Derek Thorn.

• Travis Braden (third), Cole Butcher (fourth) and Matt Craig (fifth) completed the top-five finishers in the 300-lap event.

• Only six drivers finished on the lead lap, with Nasse completing the race in sixth despite damage from his run-in with Pollard.

• Two more races are set to commence on Monday at Five Flags as the Allen Turner Snowflake 100 and Faith Chapel Outlaw 50 were postponed due to rain on Saturday.
