There were two hometown heroes expected to rise above the field during the CARS Tour visit to Larry King Law’s Langley Speedway in Hampton, Va., on Saturday night — Connor Hall and Brenden “Butterbean” Queen.
And that’s exactly what they did. The two late model stock car drivers put up a valiant fight to defend their home turf, with Hall and Queen ultimately finishing 1-2 in the 125-lap feature.
It was Hall’s first win of the season in his No. 77 Chad Bryant Racing entry.
Other than the entire field being brought to a stop due to a temporary power outage, the most notable moment was the four-car crash that brought out the yellow flag midway through the Hampton 125.
It started with Cole Bruce getting sideways in his No. 31 entry coming into turn three. His stopped car then collected the No. 4 of Dylon Wilson, the No. 42 of Carson Brown and No. 22 of Landon Huffman as the field passed through. Bruce, Wilson, and Brown were unable to complete the race, while Huffman limped home to a 21st-place finish.
