IRWINDALE, Calif. — Jacob Gomes earned his fifth win of the Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series season, topping the Allie Bakes 100 Saturday night at Irwindale Speedway.
Gomes officially led every lap, but Buddy Shepherd cleared Gomes after a lap-64 restart. Gomes was able to fight back in turns three and four and retook the lead.
Gomes pulled away to a 2.5 second victory of Austin Herzog, who tied his career best finish. Shepherd was able to hold on for third, with Dan Holtz and Cale Kanke rounding out the top five.
Gomes took home $7,833 for his victory.
The winningest driver in Irwindale history, Trevor Huddleston, won the pro late model feature.
