SRX Cancels Thunder Road Visit, Awards 2024 Date

BARRE, Vt. — In what was supposed to be one of the biggest events in the history of Thunder Road, Mother Nature stepped in to completely turn all plans upside down with a once-in-a-lifetime natural disaster and the subsequent federal declaration of emergency that currently exists in the State of Vermont.

With approximately 10,000 people planning to come into the Central Vermont area — most of which are out of state — for the July 20 Superstar Racing Experience event, officials from the nationally recognized series and their broadcast partner felt it wouldn’t be appropriate for this influx of people into our devastated community.

The SRX and All-Star Late Model event have been canceled, with the nationally renowned SRX series making the unprecedented decision to award a 2024 date to Thunder Road following today’s cancellation.

SRX will now race at Stafford Speedway, where the July 13 season opener is being held, for two consecutive weeks.

Full refunds for the Thunder Road race will be made available to current ticket holders. Those individuals must mail in their current tickets to receive their refund (P.O. Box 1002, Barre, VT 05641). In addition, anyone who purchased a 2023 ticket will have first-option on purchasing tickets for the 2024 SRX event.

More information will be available about this special.

With the loss of the July 20 SRX event, Thunder Road officials have created a special event for weekly racing on Thursday, July 20, that will be a points race for all weekly divisions including the late models, Flying Tigers, street stocks and the Road Warriors.
