Love Thrills At New Smyrna

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — Jesse Love outran Derek Griffith in a thrilling battle at the front to win the super late model headliner on night five of the 55th World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway.

Love, the Toyota development driver held off Griffith over the closing laps after the two traded the lead multiple times during the mid stages of the event.

Gabe Sommers finished third, with Jake Finch and Justin Mondeik rounding out the top five.

Ron Silk used an aggressive restart to take the lead on lap three and went on to win the Tour-type modified feature.

Matt Hirschman, who won the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour opener, finished second.

Jimmy Blewett, Teddy Hodgdon and Craig Lutz completed the top five.
