Newman Rules North Wilkesboro Revival

NORTH WILKESBORO, N.C. — Racing returned to legendary North Wilkesboro Speedway on Tuesday night with veteran NASCAR Cup Series racer Ryan Newman taking the checkered flag in the tour-type modified event that headlined night one of the Racetrack Revival.

Newman was patient during the Uncatchable Moonshine 50 and took care of his tires while others set the pace.

Spencer Davis started at the rear of the field after a penalty for icing his tires following qualifying and drove to the lead by lap eight. Ryan Preece grabbed the point on lap 35 and he and Davis traded the lead multiple times.

Davis had the lead when Newman, who was driving a car owned by Hermie Sadler, raced to the front on lap 45. He led the final six laps for the victory.

Davis finished second with Northeast modified ace Matt Hirschman coming on late to finish third. Preece and Burt Myers rounded out the top five in the 32-car field.

Paulie Hartwig III topped the crate modified feature, while Robert Strmiska claimed the mini stock main event.
