Kyle Larson To Compete In National Open

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – Kyle Larson will strap back into a sprint car for the first time since winning the 60th Knoxville Nationals in August at Iowa’s Knoxville Raceway to compete in the Williams Grove Speedway National Open this Friday and Saturday.

Larson, who is in the midst of the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs in the No. 5 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports, will head to Williams Grove Speedway this Friday and Saturday to race against the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series and the Pennsylvania Posse.

Friday’s 25-lap preliminary feature will pay $10,000-to-win, while Saturday’s 40-lap feature winner will earn a whopping $75,000 prize.

Larson, who will again pilot the No. 57 entry with Paul Silva on the wrenches, has already earned two massive paydays in a sprint car this season. He won $175,000 for his victory in the 37th Kings Royal at Ohio’s Eldora Speedway in July, which he followed up with his $176,000 victory in the Knoxville Nationals a few weeks later.

In addition to his success in a sprint car, Larson has also enjoyed strong runs in a dirt late model this year. He picked up $50,000 for winning the Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury (Ill.) Speedway on July 31. He also won the BC39 USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget Series race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Dirt Track.

While Larson has never won the National Open, he does have three victories at Williams Grove Speedway during his career. One of those victories came earlier this year with the All Star Circuit of Champions.

So far this year Larson has 10 410 sprint car victories to go along, three dirt late model victories and six NASCAR Cup Series triumphs, plus a $1 million victory in the NASCAR All-Star Race at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas.
