Seavey Trims Kofoid’s Lead In Midget Week Points

LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. – Buddy Kofoid maintained his lead in the Indiana Midget Week standings with a runner-up finish Saturday at Lawrenceburg Speedway, but Logan Seavey started nipping at his heels.

Seavey, who won the 30-lapper at the three-eighths-mile dirt oval, moved to within 14 points of Kofoid in the hunt for the eight-rice mini-series championship – seeking his second Indiana Midget Week crown in three years.

Such a title would be the first for the Tom Malloy-owned No. 25 team crew chiefed by Jerome Rodela.

While Kofoid and Seavey top the updated standings through three of eight races, defending USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget Series champion Chris Windom still lurks in third place, 18 points back.

Justin Grant stands fourth, 28 points shy of the lead, with Daison Pursley rising to fifth in the newest rankings after a third-straight top-10 finish to open the week with Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports.

Cannon McIntosh, Paragon winner Thomas Meseraull, Emerson Axsom, Bryant Wiedeman and Kevin Thomas Jr. make up the top 10 in Indiana Midget Week points following the Lawrenceburg round.

Meseraull’s free-fall through the standings continued Saturday night after he flipped from third place with four laps complete in the feature.

Indiana Midget Week continues Sunday night at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind., where pit gates open at 3:30 p.m. CT and hot laps kick off at 6 p.m. CT.
