Kofoid Vaults To Indiana Midget Week Points Lead

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – By becoming the second winner in as many Indiana Midget Week races on Friday night, Buddy Kofoid also took over the point lead for the eight-race mini-series as well.

Kofoid’s $4,000 triumph at Bloomington Speedway pushed him 12 points clear of rival Chris Windom, who is chasing the Penngrove, Calif., native in both the Indiana Midget Week title chase and the USAC national midget championship battle as well.

Windom sits 32 markers adrift of Kofoid in the season-long points hunt.

Consistency through the first two nights allowed Logan Seavey to rise to third in the Indiana Midget Week standings, on the strength of fifth- and seventh-place finishes driving the Tom Malloy No. 25.

Seavey, the 2019 Indiana Midget Week titlist, is seeking his second IMW title this year. He’s 16 points behind Kofoid – who is driving the Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports No. 67 that Kofoid once piloted – through two of the eight scheduled races.

RMS Racing teammates Justin Grant and Thomas Meseraull, who both finished on the podium in Thursday’s Indiana Midget Week opener, saw finishes outside the top eight relegate them to fourth and fifth in the updated Indiana Midget Week standings.

Grant’s ninth-place finish at Bloomington dropped him to fourth, 22 points out of the lead, while Paragon winner Meseraull was 13th in the Bloomington round and fell to 27 points back in fifth place.

Daison Pursley, Jason McDougal, Cannon McIntosh, Bryant Wiedeman and Kevin Thomas Jr. close the top 10 in the IMW standings with six races remaining over the next eight days.

Indiana Midget Week continues Saturday night at Lawrenceburg Speedway, where the pit gates open at 3 p.m. and cars hit the race track at 6 p.m. for hot laps.
