SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. — After losing a heartbreaker on Friday night, Logan Seavey left nothing to chance on Saturday night as he led every lap en route to winning the sprint car portion of the Western World Championship at Arizona Speedway.
Aboard the Baldwin/Fox No. 5, Seavey led all 30 laps of the third-mile dirt track to claim his fourth USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car Championship victory of the season in what was the season finale for the series.
Seavey used the high groove to fend off C.J. Leary over the closing laps.
“I knew my car was good up top,” Seavey claimed. “Racing here in the past and knowing how clean the top got, I knew the rubber was coming. I got to lapped traffic and felt it coming, then a yellow came out and I freed myself way up for the rubber and I did it too early and about gave it away. C.J. got a huge run and about went by us. Luckily, I was able to hold on just long enough for the rubber to come.”
Jake Swanson finished third, with Thomas Meseraull fourth.
While Seavey claimed the victory, Brady Bacon officially earned his fourth USAC national sprint car title by signing in for the event. He raced to a fifth-place finish.
With the race co-sanctioned by the USAC-CRA Sprint Car Series, Damion Gardner won his ninth championship in that series.
