Golobic Is Merced Midget King

MERCED, Calif. — Shane Golobic was the class of the field in winning Saturday night’s Elk Grove Ford Mini Series midget feature at Merced Speedway.

The event was co-sanctioned by the USAC Western States Midget Series and the Bay Cities Racing Ass’n.

Driving Matt Wood’s No. 17w midget, Golobic was the fast qualifier and raced from sixth starting spot to grab the lead in seven laps.

He led the remainder of the 30-lap feature for the victory.

Michael Faccinto finished second, with Ben Worth, A.J. Bender and Dawson Faria rounding out the top five.
