Gardner Is Two-For-Two At Cocopah

SOMERTON, Ariz. — Damion Gardner is two-for-two during the opening weekend of AMSOIL USAC-CRA sprint car competition at Cocopah Speedway.

After winning Thursday’s opener, the nine-time series champion was the class of the field again on Friday night at the four-tenths-mile track.

Gardner started outside the front row and took the lead from polesitter Tommy Malcolm on lap 15. From there, he led the remainder of the distance to win for the second consecutive night during the three-race opening weekend.

Malcolm finished second, with Chase Johnson, Charles Davis Jr. and Cody Williams rounding out the top five.

Austin Williams was the fast qualifier with a lap of 16.660 seconds.

Saturday’s finale will be broadcast live by SPEED SPORT TV.
