Elk Grove, Calif. – With the USAC Western States Midgets set to commence their season this weekend the team at Elk Grove Ford, along with Placerville Speedway and Merced Speedway, have announced a new four-race mini-series that will debut on Saturday.
The series within a series will feature a special point fund for the final top-three earners and is comprised of the four total USAC Western States Midget events at Placerville and Merced respectively.
The two shows at Placerville Speedway include this Saturday’s Spring Fever Frenzy, as well as the May 7th Mother’s Day Madness. Events that will be included at Merced Speedway take place on April 23rd and June 18th.
Elk Grove Ford is putting up $200 per car, per event that will be added to the pot and make up the four-race point fund. Once the four events are completed, points will be tabulated for those races and the overall champion will take home 50% of the point fund, while the runner up earns 30% of the total and third place receives 20% of it.
“This should be a great opportunity for the Midget teams in California to have a chance at some solid money,” said Scott Russell of Placerville Speedway. “We are excited to partner up with Matt Wood and Elk Grove Ford, along with Doug Lockwood, S&S Promotions and Merced Speedway on this special series. The point fund only increases with support, so we hope to have a solid field of cars on hand this Saturday to kick-it all off at Placerville. I can’t think of two tracks more conducive to Midget racing than Merced and Placerville.”
