BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Cody Williams came on strong in the second half of the feature and picked up his first USAC-CRA Sprint Car Series triumph of the season Saturday at Bakersfield Speedway.
Starting seventh, Williams took the lead from Tommy Malcolm, who led laps seven through 16, on the 17th tour of the third-mile dirt track.
Williams led the remainder of the distance, holding off 13th-starter Matt Mitchell for the victory.
Kyle Edwards, Logan Williams and Eddie Tafoya Jr. rounded out the top five.
Cody Williams was also the fast qualifier with a lap of 12.967 seconds.
