Hahn Tops Turnpike Challenge Opener

SAPULPA, Okla. — Blake Hahn would use precision and a little bit of luck to earn his first feature win at Creek County Speedway with the POWRi National and West Midget Leagues on the opening night of the 11th annual Turnpike Challenge.

High-point qualifier Lane Goodman led the field to the green flag with Jake Neuman gaining the initial advantage on the opening lap from starting outside front row as Ryan Timms, Cannon McIntosh, Blake Hahn and Zach Daum gave chase.

Swapping positions several times in the early stages of the feature, saw Timms take the top spot from Neuman as Hahn and McIntosh battled within inches for third and fourth.

Appearing to be the class of the field, Timms showed the fastest way around Creek County Speedway for most of the event until a lapped car stalled in front of Timms, collecting his mount in the process.

Inheriting the lead with three laps remaining, Hahn protected the lead from a quickly gaining McIntosh that placed in the runner-up positioning ahead of Neuman that finalized the podium placements.

“I hate that we didn’t get to battle it out for the win with Ryan, he is a great aggressive talented driver that I enjoy racing against,” said Hahn. “We have a rocket right now, anytime I get to stand here in victory lane in front of friends and family is what this is all about.”

Staying in the hunt all event, Ashton Torgerson finished fourth, with Kris Carroll rolling from 16th to finish fifth.
