Third Time The Charm For Trophy Cup

TULARE, Calif. – After two COVID-19 related postponements, the Trophy Cup will finally be held for the 27th time later this year.

Host track Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., was unable to host racing last season and the initial plan was to hold two Trophy Cups this year. However, that plan was dropped when it became unclear if fans would be allowed for the end of May dates.

When the field of winged 360 sprints race the Abreu Vineyards Trophy Cup 27 Presented by Rudeen Racing on Oct. 21-23, a purse of more than $200,000 will be offered with the event champion guaranteed $27,000. Rico Abreu did the unbelievable in 2019 when he won all three main events, a feat that nobody thought was possible.

Entries will be mailed to teams that competed in the 2019 event on June 10 and those teams have until July 15 to return their entry forms. On July 16 the remaining openings in the maximum 120 car field will be available, with the earliest postmark entries receiving priority.

The Trophy Cup will continue to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation. More than $2 million has been raised by the event and donated to the Foundation.
