HARTFORD, Ohio — Ryan Smith banked $4,000 for winning Saturday night’s Western PA Speedweek sprint car feature at Sharon Speedway.
Smith started outside the front row and held off the charges of Hall of Famer Dave Blaney, who started 12th on the grid and blasted through the field to finish second.
“It’s pretty cool to beat Dave (Blaney) at his own place- I knew he had to be coming,” acknowledged Smith. “I just tried not to make any mistakes, capitalize on lapped car mistakes, and get what I could. All in all not bad for just the third time out with my guys this year. It’s been a lot of fun even though we struggled last night, but rebounded and took all the big money tonight. The car was really good. We made some small changes between last night and today, and it definitely showed. Hopefully we can race tomorrow and end the week on a good note.”
Zane DeVault, Dale Blaney and Logan McCandless rounded out the top five.
Forty-six cars were on hand, with Dave Blaney the fast qualifier.
