Schultz Charges To MSR Lights Prize

SOUTH AMHERST, Ohio — Veteran Charlie Schultz picked up a popular win Saturday night with his Maxima Racing Oils Must See Racing Midwest Lights Series at Loran Raceway Park.

It was the opening night of the annual Halloween Festival of Speed. Schultz was aboard the potent John Higgins owned No. 92.

Saturday’s event was the next-to-last event on the 2021 MSR Midwest Lights schedule, with the season finale set for Sunday afternoon and the championship battle still in full chase.

Defending MSR Lights champion J.J. Henes reminded everyone he is still battling for this year’s championship when he led group qualifying 13.570. Heat race victories went to A.J. Leseicki and Schultz.

Schultz used his outside front row starting position, by virtue of a four inversion, to claim the feature event over Joshua Sexton, Henes, Jason Rader, and fifth place and current leader Joey Wycoff.

The win was the second MSR Lights victory of the season for Shultz who also picked up a series win on June 11 at LRP. Schultz has also been victorious with the MSR 410 series in 2021.
