Reutzel Adds A Little To His Ohio Speedweek Lead

PEEBLES, Ohio – Aaron Reutzel extended his Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek point lead Wednesday night at Brushcreek Motorsports Complex, but only barely.

With a third-place finish compared to a fourth-place run by his nearest pursuer, Cale Conley, Reutzel gained two points on Conley and now holds a margin of 16 after five races.

Reutzel leads Conley 718 to 702 in the numerical tally.

Conley and Ravici Racing remain within striking distance, though, should something happen to Reutzel one of the next four nights. The team has emerged as a pleasant surprise for the week.

Paul McMahan ranks third, 40 points back at 678, with Cory Eliason fourth (638) and another 40 points behind McMahan’s total.

Greg Wilson fills out the top five (608) in the rankings, followed by Skylar Gee (604), Zeb Wise (600), Tim Shaffer (598), Josh Baughman (594) and Buddy Kofoid (544), who tumbled down the order from second after missing Wednesday night’s race.

Kofoid is not competing in the second half of Ohio Sprint Speedweek due to POWRi National Midget League duties with Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports in Kansas and Missouri.

Also notably absent from Brushcreek was two-time Speedweek winner Cap Henry, who took top honors with Lane Racing in both the Attica opener and Monday at Wayne County Speedway.

However, work obligations kept Henry out of Wednesday night’s action and, thus, have squelched his Speedweek title chances for this year. He now sits 12th, 180 points back.

Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek continues Thursday night at Muskingum County Speedway in Dresden, Ohio.
