Record Payoff For 28th Trophy Cup

TULARE, Calif. — The 28th annual Abreu Vineyards Trophy Cup presented by Rudeen Racing at Thunderbowl Raceway will feature a record purse with four drivers receiving an opportunity to cash a huge bonus check for winning the Saturday night main event.

The driver accumulating the most points during the three-night event will receive $28,000 as it is the 28th year of the event, however, the four drivers accumulating the most points entering Saturday night’s 50-lap feature will have the chance to earn huge bonuses for winning the event.

A sponsor who wishes to remain anonymous is making the bonus available to the four top point earners who will be slated to start 17th through 20th in the main event.

If the high point car entering the finale wins the race and championship, the total winnings for the three days will be a guaranteed $50,000. The second-place driver could cash a check for $40,000, with bonuses of $35,000 and $30,000 offered to the third and fourth drivers in points entering the Trophy Cup feature if they win the event.

All drivers qualifying for the 24-car Saturday finale are guaranteed $5,000 for their three-day total.

In the 27 years the Trophy Cup has been held, only once did the high point car entering the Saturday main win both the race and the title (Tim Kaeding, 2009).
