GAS CITY, Ind. – Rain halted the first half of the Fall Festival of Speed and Non-Wing Nationals at 10 p.m. Friday at Gas City I-69 Speedway, forcing track officials to postpone the B and A mains for the non-wing 410 sprint car and Interstate Racing Association Wisconsin wingLESS sprints to Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
Saturday’s scheduled program will conclude the make-up events at 5 p.m.Â
The A mains for the USAC regional midgets and the 600cc micro-sprints scheduled Friday night will not be rescheduled, as they weren’t on Saturday’s card and Saturday is the track’s season finale.
The pit gate will open at noon Saturday for competitors who participated Friday night. The grandstands will open at 3 p.m. for fans who have ticket stubs from Friday.
At the conclusion of the show postponed from Friday, security will sweep the grandstands and then allow fans with tickets to Saturday’s program to enter the grandstand area.
There were 108 race cars on the grounds Friday, and even more are expected for the second half of the Fall Festival, as modifieds, street stocks and hornets will join the two classes of wingless sprints.
Brayden Fox, Issac Chapple, Mario Clouser and Shane Cockrum won the eight-lap 410 non-wing sprint car heats Friday night.
Two B-mains will be run Saturday afternoon to complete the 20-car field.Â
Cockrum will be on the pole for the 25-lap A-main.Â
Jake Kuba, Clayton Rossman and Natalie Klemko won the three IRA Wisconsin wingLESS sprint heats Friday night.
The B main will be held Saturday afternoon to complete the field for that division’s 25-lap A main.
Chett Gehrke, Ronnie Gardner and Kyle Simon won the USAC Midwest Regional Midget Series heats Friday. Gehrke wrapped up his second straight title in the process.
Bobby Bazan won the first 600cc non-wing micro-sprint heat Friday. The second one was halted with one lap down when the rain began to fall.
