BURLINGTON, Iowa — Sprint car driver Paul Nienhiser and team owner Scott Bonar will pool their resources to contest a 50-race schedule this season.
In the past the duo only ran together when they had an opening in their respective schedules.
“The last couple of years I have really enjoyed the opportunities I have had to race with Scott Bonar, and we have been really successful together,” Paul Nienhiser said. “This year it makes sense for us to pool our resources together and come out swinging with a very busy schedule that will see us run a winged 360, a winged 410 and even shed the wings a few times.”
When the season comes to life, fans will still see both Nienheiser’s familiar CAM2 Blue Blood Racing No. 9x as well as Bonar’s Midland Performance No. 50, also carrying the CAM2 brand. The plan is to rotate cars over the course of the year as they truly combine forces.
“We each have built up our own programs, and our cars and numbers have special meanings to us, so rather than combine that we will keep the look of both of our cars alive and some nights will be in the No. 9x, and some nights will see us out in the No. 50, basically whatever makes the most logical and financial sense,” Nienhiser added.
The team plans to compete with the MOWA, IRA, Sprint Invaders, IRA, ASCS and the newly formed Xtreme Outlaws Non-Wing Series. The team’s season opens April 1-2 at 34 Raceway in Burlington, Iowa.
