JACKSONVILLE, Ill. — In perhaps one of the most exciting features of the 2021 Morrow Brothers Ford MOWA Sprint Car Series feature events, Jake Neuman added another victory.
Neuman overtook front row starter Jacob Patton and battled with Noah Gass, for most of the 25-lap affair.
At one point, Gass squeezed past Neuman to take the top spot, only to have the favor returned. While working through heavy lapped traffic, Neuman struggled to pull away, allowing Gass and others to close in.
Approaching the checkered flag in an event that would have been flag-to-flag, Gass made a desperate attempt to overtake Jake Neuman for the win, resulting in a violent accident sending him upside down and relinquishing his second-place position.
Following the melee in turn four, remaining competitors then returned to action for a one lap shootout.
Neuman led the field back to the green and white flag and never once was challenged as he paved the way to his second career Morrow Brothers Ford MOWA Sprint Car Series feature event.
Tenth-starting Joe B. Miller, piloting the NineSix Motorsports no. 96 advanced eight positions to score a second place finish. Ryan Bunton, Jason Keith and Jacob Patton rounded out the top five.
“This one means a lot, everything that the Schuh family has done to get this race put together is awesome. I’m glad that we were able to win this race in honor of Carolyn, a long-time supporter of my racing program”, said Neuman.
