NARC’s Final Doubleheader Of Season On Tap

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The final doubleheader of the 2021 NARC-King of the West Fujitsu Sprint Car campaign is slated for this Halloween weekend.

The West Coast’s premier 410 series heads to Hanford’s Keller Auto Speedway Friday, Oct. 29, then to the Dirt Track at Kern County Raceway Park the following night Oct. 30.

Friday will mark the 18th event of the season while Saturday will be the penultimate series race with the finale slated for Nov. 6 at Stockton Dirt Track.

Friday’s show at Keller Auto Speedway will be the Anthony Simone Classic and feature a hefty purse and a variety of unique twists in the format.

The Fujitsu Feature will award $10,000 to the winner with the runner-up earning $5,000 and third-place receiving $3,000.

The prize of $10,000 is to honor the late Anthony Simone, who wheeled a No. 10 machine during his versatile career.

Heat races will be lined up straight up by qualifying times and span five laps in distance. The top two finishers in each heat will transfer to the 10-car, 10-lap dash.

The lineup for the dash will be based on a complete inversion of the qualifying times from the 10 drivers who earned a spot.

After the 30-lap feature, drivers will have the chance to compete in a 20-lap, NARC-sanctioned, non-wing feature awarding $3,000 to the victor. It’s the first NARC non-winged feature since 1985.

Joining NARC-KWS at Hanford will be the USAC Western States Midgets and IMCA Stock Cars.

Saturday will be the highly-anticipated return of NARC-King of the West to Kern County Raceway Park. The series hasn’t visited the Bakersfield bullring in more than two years since Oct. 5, 2019.

Trophy Cup champion Buddy Kofoid is expected to compete in the Works Limited No. 57 sprint cat with Paul Silva as crew chief.

Two-time series champion Tim Kaeding, meanwhile has been on a roll the past few months.

His finishes of eighth and third two weeks ago in the Morrie Williams Memorial twin features gave him 11 straight top-10s, and the latter result marked his second podium in the last three races.

Current points leader Dominic Scelzi is coming off a 20th-place result in the second Morrie Williams Memorial feature after winning the first.

Scelzi is a two-time series winner at Kern County after sweeping both 2019 appearances.

Other drivers expected to compete in one or both events this weekend include Kyle Hirst, D.J. Netto, Sean Becker, Bud Karding, Ryan Bernal, Billy Aton, Sean Watts, Austin McCarl, Joel Myers Jr. and more.

Keller Auto Speedway’s gates will open at 4:00 p.m. Pacific Time on Friday with hot laps scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
