MSR 410 Season Opener Set For South Boston

SOUTH BOSTON, Va. — The Must See Racing Sprint Series presented by Engine Pro is a little over three weeks away, with the season opener scheduled to take place at South Boston Speedway on the weekend of April 29.

The two-day format will include two complete nights of racing, referred to as the American Sprint Car Weekend.

This will be the first time in the track’s 65-year history that winged sprint cars have visited the slightly banked, four-tenths-mile asphalt oval.

The weekend will kick off on Thursday, April 28, with an open practice. The following nights will see racing programs that include single car qualifying, heat races and 30-lap feature events. In addition, both events will be televised for a future tape-delayed broadcast on MAVTV.

Interest in the event is drawing drivers from more than seven different states — including Michigan, Ohio, Massachusetts, Indiana, Florida, North Carolina and Pennsylvania.

Additionally, over 20 cars are expected for this event. Early entrants include Adam Biltz, Jeff Bloom, Jacob Dollinar, Anthony Linkenhoker, Joe Speakman, Mike McVetta and Rick Holley.

There are a few drivers to keep an eye on throughout the event. Bloom will be entering his fifty-sixth season of competition and will be looking to add to his all-time win total. Jimmy McCune will be looking for his sixth career MSR championship.

Anthony McCune is the defending MSR champion and will be looking to repeat.

This will be the first time since 2020 that MSR has had a points championship. The series did not award a series champion in 2021 due to COVID-19 concerns and the uncertainty of races that would be held during the pandemic.
