Moran Tops First Ever OCRS Lucas Oil Speedway Event

WHEATLAND, Mo. — Rees Moran started his three-race weekend off on a historic note winning the first ever AmeriFlex Hose & Accessories OCRS Sprint Car main event held at Lucas Oil Speedway on Thursday night.

Moran earned the pole from the nights redraw and used it to his advantage leading all 25 laps to post his first victory of the season and third of his career.

Alex Sewell drove into second on lap three and gave chase. With two laps remaining Sewell closed the gap to less than one second, but would get no closer and settled for second ending his victory streak at two. Fort Worth, Texas driver Landon Thompson started 17th and worked his way into third on lap 17 where he remained. The finish was enough to earn the D&G Contracting Hard Charger award. Zach Blurton fell to fourth after Thompson wheeled around him, and Sheldon Barksdale picked up fifth place.

Terry Easum and Zach Chappell topped the 12-lap B mains earning them a sport in the main event, but Chappell did not finish the main and Easum climbed to 14th.

It was all Steve Muilenburg in the POWRi Midwest Mods feature as the veteran driver led all 20 laps, outdistancing Dayton Newell for the victory.

Darin Porter took the lead with four laps remaining and held off Trevor Wilson by .651 seconds for the POWRi Pure Stocks victory.
