INDIANAPOLIS – Thomas Meseraull drove to victory during Thursday’s Sherley Unlimited Snow Company Circle City Winged 410 sprint car feature at Circle City Raceway.
Scotty Thiel started from the pole alongside NASCAR Cup Series star Alex Bowman, with Bowman getting the jump on Thiel at the start when Thiel jumped an infield tire coming out of turn four.
Bowman would lead the first six laps before he caught the tail of the field, which allowed Meseraull to track him down and pass him through turns one and two. The first caution of the race waved moments later when Justin Adams flipped, leading to a brief red flag period for cleanup.
Meseraull held the lead when the race resumed, but the caution flag soon waved again when Geoff Dodge flipped in turn four after contact with Ryan Broughton. Meseraull continued to lead when the green flag waved again before the third caution of the race waved at halfway for the stopped car of Caden Englehart in turn one.
Once the action resumed Meseraull remained in command, but with less than 10 laps left he was challenged by Thiel as the battled through slower traffic. With three laps left Thiel tossed a slider under Meseraull in turns three and four, but was unable to complete the pass.
Thiel made one last attempt at catching Meseraull on the last lap, but ended up jumping the cushion in turn four and spinning to the inside of the track as Meseraull took the checkered flag to secure the $3,100 payday.
“That was pretty awesome. It’s our first 410 winged win, so super special get it in the No. 00,” Meseraull said. “Thanks to all the fans for coming out and making this thing happen.”
Broughton ended up second, followed by Ricky Peterson, Critter Malone and Bowman. After running second at the white flag and spinning in turn four, Thiel was scored ninth at the finish.
In other action, Chance Crum won the USAC Midwest Regional Midget Series feature while Stone Sharpe won the 600cc Outlaw Non-Winged Micro Sprint feature.
The race was broadcast live by SPEED SPORT TV affiliate Circle City Raceway TV.
