SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Ron Musselman, co-owner of Maxim Racing, which builds sprint car chassis, will retire from the company on Jan. 31, selling his interest in the organization to his brother.
Musselman has operated the company since purchasing it from Chuck Merrill nine years ago.
“This has been in the works for a year and a half, and we were able to finalize the sale of my ownership this month to my brother Dan,” Musselman said in a statement. “I’m grateful for all our great customers and I’ll always cherish the friendships I made throughout the past nine years. Maxim is and will always be the best sprint car chassis.”
During Musselman’s ownership, Maxim Chassis won countless races and championships including the 2016, 2018 and 2019 Knoxville Nationals. Maxim was the World of Outlaws Manufacturer of the Year in 2023.
