Macri Wins PA Speedweek Thriller

ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. — Anthony Macri won a thriller Saturday night at Lincoln Speedway as the 33rd annual PA Sprint Speedweek kicked off at Lincoln Speedway.

Danny Dietrich took the early lead from outside the front row in the 30-lap event, while Macri started sixth and steadily worked his way forward.

The second half of the race was filled with back-and-forth action as Macri and Brent Marks chased Dietrich through traffic with the trio getting nearly three-wide on several occasions.

Macri swept past Dietrich on lap 27 and held off Marks to lead the final four laps and bank the $10,000 top prize.

Marks finished second, with Dietrich, Justin Peck and Freddie Rahmer rounding out the top five.

Macri finished the 30 non-stop laps in eight minutes and 15.923 seconds.

Peck was fast qualifier for the 37-car field with a best lap of 13.359 seconds on the three-eighths-mile track.

Friday’s scheduled Speedweek opener at Williams Grove Speedway was rained out and Speedweek continues Sunday night at BAPS Motor Speedway.
