Liguori Nabs Second MSR Victory

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Joe Liguori held off Charlie Schultz and Nolan Allison in a faced paced final 18 laps to win his second career Must See Racing Sprint Series presented by Engine Pro feature event of the season Saturday at Montgomery Motor Speedway.

Liguori was also the night’s quick qualifier  with a lap of 16.577 seconds.

In a surprise move, Friday night’s feature event winner Troy DeCaire would not make the feature call as engine problems sidelined him.

A nice crowd greeted the MSR sprint cars for their final appearance of 2021. Kevin Feeney got the jump and lead the opening lap until Allison took over the top spot one lap later.

Allison began to build up a nice lead over Liguori. On lap 12 the red flag waved for a momentary fife for the Feeney machine. It was a heartbreaking end to the weekend for Feeney who ran up front both nights after returning from a near disastrous battle with COVID just a few months earlier.

When the race resumed Liguori garnered the top spot and would not be denied the feature victory over Charlie Schultz and Nolan Allison. He would lead the final 18 laps uncontested.

The finish:

Joe Liguori, Charlie Schultz, Nolan Allison, T.J. Jewell, Jeff Bloom, Rick Holley, Joshua Sexton, Todd McQuillen, Adam Biltz, Kevin Feeney, Tommy Nichols, Dave Mader III, Troy DeCaire.
