Kofoid To Remain With Roth Motorsports

Buddy Kofoid will continue to pilot Roth Motorsports’ No. 83JR for the remainder of the season.

Kofoid’s first appearance with Roth came at the High Bank Nationals at Huset’s (S.D.) Speedway in June, where the 2021-’22 USAC National Midget Series champion was leading before an expired engine dashed his hopes of winning.

“We are thrilled to have Buddy Kofoid join us at Roth Motorsports for the rest of the season,” said team owner Dennis Roth. “Buddy’s skills behind the wheel are truly impressive, and we believe his partnership with experienced crew members Dylan Buswell, and Chad Cypert will be a winning combination.

“The team performed very well last week at Huset’s Speedway and we can’t wait to see what we can achieve together in upcoming races with support from Toyota and Toyota Racing Development.”

With the partnership kicking off in impressive fashion during the High Bank Nationals, the immediate plans for Kofoid and the No. 83JR team will be in action tonight at Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway then with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series through the upcoming King’s Royal event at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, which includes the Eldora Million.

Following the King’s Royal, the team will run an eight race stretch to close out the month of July with the All Star Circuit of Champions before gearing up for some marquee races on the schedule.

The team will then hit the Ironman 55, the Capitani Classic and then the crown jewel of sprint car racing, the Knoxville Nationals. Once the Nationals conclude in mid-August the team will then schedule out their fall slate of races.

“I am excited to finish out the year with Roth Motorsports and Toyota/TRD,” Kofoid said. “Having Toyota’s continued support is great, and I’m looking forward to continuing to run their new 410ci engines. Growing up in California, I have always watched the Roth cars compete, so it is special to drive for Dennis and Teresa Roth.

“We got off to a good start at Huset’s, and that has us all excited for what is to come.”

With the new pairing is dedicated to conquering some of the toughest events in sprint car racing, Crew Chief Dylan Buswell looks forward to working with Kofoid and the challenges ahead.

“I am excited to work with the talented Buddy Kofoid and to be back at Roth Motorsports. The team is a pleasure to work with, and they provide all the necessary tools to compete and the highest level. With our partnership with Toyota/TRD, I am eager to help continue to develop their new engine package and represent TRD to the high standard that they hold.”
