Kofoid To Pilot Vermeer No. 55

KNOXVILLE, Iowa — Buddy Kofoid has been named to drive the Vermeer Motorsports sprint car beginning with Friday night’s Ohio Speedweek opener at Attica Raceway Park.

Kofoid, who leads the standings in Indiana Midget Week, will leave his Keith Kunz Motorsports No. 67 behind to return to the winged sprint car ranks.

“At just 21 years old, Buddy has an amazing track record and holds two World of Outlaws wins,” read the Vermeer Motorsports statement posted on Twitter Thursday morning. “We are excited to work with him starting this Friday at Attica Raceway Park with the All Star Circuit of Champions.”

Kofoid replaces longtime Vermeer driver Hunter Schuerenberg, who was released from the team on Wednesday evening.

Kofoid, the two-time and reigning USAC midget champion, has run three USAC midget features and the High Limit Racing sprint car event during the past four days.

Having started the campaign with Crouch Motorsports, Kofoid has hopped between multiple rides, including Bernie Stuebgen’s Indy Race Parts No. 71, since splitting with the team in early May.
