Kingshott Wins In Convincing Fashion At Perth

Dayne Kingshott moved one step closer to being officially crowned the Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series championship after another convincing win at Western Australia’s Perth Motorplex on Saturday night.

Kingshott claimed the Asphalt Recyclers Australia Sprintcar Gold Cup ahead of Kaiden Manders and Callum Williamson in what was the penultimate round of the series.

The grand final will be contested at the Perth Motorplex next Saturday night.

Heading into the round 17 clash, Kingshott had a 46-point lead over defending series champion James Inglis, but after taking the win, and Inglis finishing in ninth, the margin has blown out to 64 points.

If Kingshott starts the feature race next week – no matter where he or Inglis finishes, he will be crowned the new champion.

The Krikke Motorsport racer was second in his qualifying group and fourth in his heat race, before starting fourth for the A Dash.

Contact between Daniel Harding and Trent Pigdon who both started on the front row, gifted Kingshott the lead and he went on to win the race, giving him pole position for the feature.

Manders started second after being fourth quickest in his qualifying group, before taking a win in both his heat race and the B Dash.

The feature race didn’t get out of the first turn before the first red light, when Monte Motorsport’s Jamie Veal flipped on the main straight and resumed from the rear.

Jamie Maiolo was crossed up in turn one a few moments later and was hit by Williamson, which also forced Jaydee Dack to spin.

Maiolo’s car was too damaged to be repaired in time in the work area.

Not even a handful of laps later,  Brad Maiolo was also headed infield with front-end damage after contact with Dack.

Jarrin Bielby triggered the next red light when he flipped in the first turns.

With only eight laps in the books, Harding spun around on the main straight after contact with Veal, putting him out of the show.

It was a tough end for Harding who earlier in the night set the Victory 1 Performance Quick Time.

Williamson was able to move forward through the race after starting from 16th and by the end of the journey he had passed 13 cars to be the latest Kincrome Hard Charger.

Taylor Milling, who started eighth after getting stronger in the latter part of the race, was fourth.

Trent Pigdon also finished strong, taking fifth after starting ninth.

Previous round winner Jason Kendrick, who started fourth and momentarily was in third, crossed the line in sixth.

Veal, despite being in the wars on the night, progressed from 14th to seventh, while Andrew Priolo took eight after starting sixth, Inglis took ninth after starting 17th and Kris Coyle moved up two spots to finish 10th.
