Brock Hallett raced to victory in a rain-delayed 39th Kubota President’s Cup at Avalon Raceway in Geelong, Australia.
Hallett’s win in the feature event follows his second place run behind Aaron Reutzel in last weekend’s Grand Annual Sprint Car Classic at Warrnambool.
Hallett claimed the $10,000 prize money after leading Grand Anderson and Jamie Veal to the line in the A-Main.
“This is a great result for the team who have been working so hard over the past couple of weeks, it’s nice to reward them,” Hallett said.
Fourth placing was filled by Marcus Dumesny ahead of Jock Goodyer.
Goodyer, the reigning Australian champion had only qualified through the B-Main.
Conducted on Wednesday, three days out from the Australian championship at Premier Speedway, Hallett’s win suggests he may be the favorite for this weekend’s Australian Championship.
With the exception of Riley Goodno, the touring Americans had jetted back to the U.S. after the classic, leaving the prize money open to the 35 Australian competitors who had entered the event.
More than 80 drivers and cars descend on Premier Speedway this weekend for the Australian championship.
