Gravel Rises To National Sprint Car Rankings Lead

David Gravel, who was the runner-up in Saturday’s 62nd running of the Knoxville Nationals, has moved to the top of the National Sprint Car Rankings.

Driving the Big Game Motorsports No. 2 sprint car, Gravel has an average finish of 3.980 in 54 starts. He’s won 10 features this season.

Carson Macedo, who won a preliminary night feature during the Nationals, ranks second with an average finish of 4.440 in 54 races.

Corey Day, who led the rankings the previous three weeks, fell to third with an average finish of 4.828 in 29 events. Anthony Macri and World of Outlaws point leader Brad Sweet round out the top five.

Having reached the 20 starts required to be eligible for the rankings, Knoxville Nationals winner Kyle Larson ranks sixth.

One hundred and five drivers have made the 20 starts required to be eligible for the rankings and 820 racers have run a winged 410 sprint car race this season.

Freddie Rahmer holds the top spot in the Eastern region, while Joe B. Miller has a commanding advantage in the Mid-America region.

Cap Henry leads the Great Lakes region, with Dobmeier on top of the Great Plains region.

Day paces the Western stanza with Trey Starks on top in the Northwest region. A.J. Flick anchors the PA-Ohio region.

One hundred and 38 drivers have combined to win the 338 features run this season.

Rahmer leads the country with 14 victories.
