PORT ROYAL, Pa. — It was a familiar story Sunday afternoon as the sprint car season opened at Port Royal Speedway.
Lance Dewease drove Donnie Kreitz’s No. 69k to victory in the 25-lap feature, winning on opening day at the historic half-mile track located on the Juniata County Fairgrounds for the seventh time.
The victory was Dewease’s 120th at Port Royal for the 56-year-old driver.
Veteran racer Mike Wagner took the early lead from the pole, but Dewease sailed past on Lap 13 and led the remainder of the distance to collect the $5,000 winner’s check.
Wagner finished second, with Justin Peck, Danny Dietrich and Logan Wagner rounding out the top five.
Colton Flinner won the super late model feature, with Kyle Hardy finishing second.
