Courtney: ‘It’s A Season-Long Race’

LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. — Tyler Courtney enters the two-race High Limit Racing weekend, which begins Friday at Lawrenceburg Speedway with an eight-point lead over Brad Sweet.

The two-time All Star Circuit of champions title winner is locked in a battle for the High Limit sprint car racing crown with Sweet, who has won five World of Outlaws titles, and Brent Marks.

Courtney is cautious, but optimistic about his team’s chances.

“It’s a season-long race. It’s not easy,” Courtney told FloRacing. “You are going up against a five-time High Limit champion (Brad Sweet) and the depth that we have in our field at High Limit is tough. If you get off a little bit in qualifying, you are probably going to find yourself coming from the fifth row on back and that is tough.

“We take it one night at a time and we have always kind of done that at Clauson-Marshall Racing — stay in our pit area and do our thing and worry about the task at hand, which is one night at a time. If we keep doing that, we are going to probably swap the lead with Brad a few times and Brent (Marks) is running strong. It’s a long season, we still have 37 races left. It is way too early to talk about points. I love the fact that we are keeping it close with a guy like Brad. It shows our team deserves to be out here.”

Courtney has won three High Limit features heading into the weekend stops at Lawrenceburg and Michigan’s Butler Motor Speedway.
