MEEKER, Okla. — Kicking off the 5th annual Spring Nationals at Red Dirt Raceway, the Lucas Oil National Open Wheel 600 presented by Hi-Plains Building Division brought A-Class, Non-Wing, and Restricted to the Oklahoma quarter-mile with 68 entries drawing in.
Originally, its own event, Mother Nature, caused officials to delay the show by a week, making events at the Red Dirt Raceway non-point paying shows.
Nevertheless, the racing was memorable as Chris Cochran added a fifth career victory to his credit in Non-Wing action.
A former winner with wings off, Topeka’s Dylan Kadous added his name to the list of winners in A-Class competition, while Jett Nunley made it two wins on the season in Restricted.
Leaders start to finish in A-Class and Restricted; the Non-Wing A-Feature was led early by Austin Saunders before mechanical issues sidelined the No. 82s. Having fallen to second before retiring, Cochran was credited with leading eight laps.
