Carson Short Conquers MOWA Finale

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. — Carson Short claimed victory as the Morrow Brothers Ford MOWA Sprint Car Series concluded its season with the annual Ron Milton Race of Champions Friday night at Jacksonville Speedway.

Morgan Turpen and Kyle Schuett led the field to the green. Turpen jumped out in front of the field while others battled behind her.Continuing to lead as she approached lapped traffic, Turpen’s lead was shortened as Short had worked past Scotty Thiel and set his sights on Turpen’s No. 10.

Short waited for the opportunity to pounce and once he saw an opening, he made the move. Making his way past Turpen, Short then fought back challenges from Zach Daum, who started fifth.

Daum was able to pull alongside Short twice, but couldn’t make the pass. Short never looked back as he soared to victory with the MOWA Sprints for his second-career series feature win. Daum, who came up one spot shy, finished second with Scotty Thiel, Turpen and Korey Weyant rounding out the top five.
