Brad Sweet Stands Alone In National Sprint Rankings

MOORESVILLE, N.C. – With the 410 winged sprint car season now complete, Brad Sweet has ended the season as the No. 1 ranked driver in the country.

It is the second time in the past three years that Sweet has topped the National Sprint Car Rankings, which are compiled annually by industry veteran Gary Spaid.

Sweet finished the season with an average finish of 3.667 in 81 races. He also won a national best 17 main events. When Sweet led the standings in 2019, he had a 4.29 average finish in 78 races.

Donny Schatz, who has topped the National Sprint Car Rankings in six of the 13 years they have been calculated, finished second this year. Schatz had an average finish of 4.214 in 85 races.

Carson Macedo, David Gravel and Kyle Larson rounded out the top five.

Brent Marks, who won his 14th feature of the season in Saturday’s season finale at Pennsylvania’s BAPS Motor Speedway, reigned over the Eastern region.

Dominic Scelzi won the Western region, while Sye Lynch and A.J. Flick tied atop the PA-Ohio region. Other regional winners were Jason Keith (Mid-America), D.J. Foos (Great Lakes), Brendan Mullen (Great Plains) and James McFadden (Northwest).

One hundred sixty-seven drivers have combined to win 488 features.

Sweet’s 17 victories were the most in the country this season. When he topped the rankings in 2019, he and Aaron Reutzel tied for most victories, with 17 each.

Kyle Larson topped the rankings last year and won a national-best 32 main events, which is the most by any driver since the rankings were first tallied in 2009. Schatz won 31 features in 2015.
