Beauchamp Breaks Away At Lincoln Park

PUTNAMVILLE, Ind. — Brent Beauchamp broke away from a four-car tussle for the lead to take the $3,000 winner’s share in Saturday night’s 30-lap Midwest Sprint Car Series feature event at Lincoln Park Speedway.

Beauchamp slipped away from the trio of Jadon Rogers, Chase Stockon and Shane Cottle in the closing rounds to secure his second overall feature win of the season and his third career MSCS triumph aboard the No. 34 sprint car.

“This is awesome, it has been an up and down year.  We won a race at Bloomington earlier this year and I was starting to think we were going to go winless the rest of the way,” Beauchamp explained. “The track was really technical tonight, I was just trying to make good laps around the top. It was a lot of fun to race on.”

Stockon and Beauchamp led the way to the green flag and battled side-by-side for the lead for the first several laps before Beauchamp established command on the top side with Stockon working the inner berm ahead of Cottle and Rogers until the red flag flew after nine laps for Mario Clouser’s turn one tumble.

On the restart, Rogers rallied past both Cottle and Stockon in short order and began pressuring Beauchamp for the point until a final caution flew after 17 laps when Alec Sipes and Harley Burns tangled on the frontstretch.

Rogers slid past Beauchamp in turns three and four on the restart, albeit briefly, as Beauchamp countered the move to retain the point as Stockon challenged again on the low side with Cottle throwing his hat into the mix.

Rogers, Stockon and Cottle began dicing for position over the next several laps, allowing Beauchamp to slip away to a 2.631-second advantage by the time the checkered flag flew.

Rogers emerged from the scrum for second while Cottle filled out the podium in his first race back since a grinding crash in the USAC Sprintweek finale at Haubstadt on July 30.

After getting collected in a heat race incident, Jason McDougal transferred from B Main action and then rallied through the field to pass teammate Stockon for fourth on the final circuit.

The finish:

Feature (30 Laps): 1. 34-Brent Beauchamp (2), 2. 14-Jadon Rogers (5), 3. 74x-Shane Cottle (3), 4. 5m-Jason McDougal (19), 5. 5s-Chase Stockon (1), 6. 24p-Tye Mihocko (6), 7. 16k-Koby Barksdale (11), 8. 2b-Anton Hernandez (9), 9. 44-Geoff Ensign (7), 10. 04-A.J.
