Another Ohio Speedweek Race Falls To Rain

HARTFORD, Ohio – The combination of heavy overnight and morning rain on top of already saturated grounds from days of rain and flooding has forced Sharon Speedway to cancel Tuesday’s Ohio Speedweek event for the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions.

The rainout marks the fourth in the last five events at Sharon and sixth overall of the season, including the second time the All Star Circuit of Champions have been rained out. The event was also scheduled to include the RUSH Sprint Cars.

In addition, the backup Ohio Speedweek event that was announced Monday at Wayne County Speedway has also been canceled because of rain and saturated grounds.

Those that purchased advanced and reserved tickets for Tuesday will be refunded to the credit card used to purchase. Those that are holding rain checks from the May 4 rained out All Star and RUSH Sprint show can use them for the Lou Blaney Memorial featuring the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions on July 6 or send in for a refund to Sharon Speedway, PO Box 159, Hartford, OH 44424.

Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 will now head to Atomic Speedway for the next round of Ohio Speedweek. Track and series officials will monitor the weather through Wednesday morning. In the event that Atomic Speedway is forced to cancel their Speedweek program, Wayne County Speedway will host Speedweek action on Wednesday evening. An update will be provided by 10 a.m. Wednesday.

In the event that the All Stars do not visit Wayne County on Wednesday, Wayne County Speedway will then host a doubleheader on Saturday, June 22; the first program awarding a $5,000 top prize and the second awarding a $10,000 top prize. Action is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
