TULSA, Okla. — A winner by virtue of a disqualification in 2019, California’s Jake Hagopian left no doubt to his abilities at the Lucas Oil Tulsa Shootout on Saturday night, reaching the finish line first in A-Class competition at Tulsa Expo Raceway.
Kyle Spence led the first 14 laps with Jake Hagopian giving chase. Hagopian used lapped traffic to his advantage to grab the lead on lap 15
Tyler Courtney followed Hagpoian into second and shot into the lead on lap 18. However, the yellow flag waved, with the running order reverting back to the previous lap.
NASCAR ace and three-time Chili Bowl winner Christopher Bell came calling on the restart and Bell and Courtney exchanged slide jobs for second spot, while Hagopian pulled away.
Keeping clean as the field raced back into traffic, Hagopian took the win with 1.006 seconds over Bell, who edged Courtney at the checkered flag.
Alex Bright and Kameron Key rounded out the top five.
