Chili Bowl Begins With Cummins Qualifying Night

TULSA, Okla. — The 36th edition of the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals begins Monday evening with Cummins Qualifying Night inside the Tulsa Expo Center.

Headlining the list of competitors looking to punch their ticket into Saturday’s 55-lap Chili Bowl finale is defending Monday night preliminary night winner Cannon McIntosh.

McIntosh returns to the quarter-mile temporary race track aboard the No. 08 Dave Mac/Dalby Motorsports entry. Last year he piloted a Keith Kunz Motorsports mount to victory during the Monday night preliminary main event.

He’s joined by a multitude of marquee drivers, all of which will be looking to knock McIntosh off the Monday night mountain top.

NASCAR Cup Series stars Chase Elliott, Alex Bowman and Chase Briscoe return for another Chili Bowl attempt. Elliott is driving a second Kyle Larson Racing entry, while Briscoe and Bowman are driving their own midgets.

DIRTcar modified ace Nick Hoffman is back in a midget as part of the RAMS Racing squad. Reigning All Star Circuit of Champions titlist Tyler Courtney will be in action for Clauson Marshall Racing, JR Motorsports late model driver Carson Kvapil will pilot a Marc Dailey Racing entry and USAC Triple Crown champion Jerry Coons Jr. will strap into the No. 85 fielded by Central Motorsports.

World of Outlaws star David Gravel is back aboard an entry co-entered by RMS Racing and Rusty Kunz Racing. Keith Kunz Motorsports has three entries on Monday night, including rookie Gavan Boschele, ARCA Menards Series West champion Jesse Love and Tanner Carrick.

The only Chili Bowl champion entered Monday is John Heydenreich, who captured his lone Chili Bowl crown in 1990.

The Vacuworx Invitational Race of Champions is also on Monday night’s card. Those invited to compete include defending Chili Bowl and NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Larson, Brad Sweet, Brady Bacon, Bryant Wiedeman, Buddy Kofoid, McIntosh, Elliott, Christopher Bell, Daryn Pittman, Justin Grant, Rico Abreu, Sammy Swindell, Spencer Bayston, Tanner Thorson, Tim McCreadie and Tyler Courtney.
