Brooklyn Holland Is Tulare RaceSaver Ace

TULARE,Calif. — Brooklyn Holland won the 20-lap IMCA Western RaceSaver sprint car feature at the Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway on Friday night.

Holland drove her familiar black and pink No. 2 sprint car to the victory over Richard Weddle and Connor Danell at the Tulare County Fairgrounds speedplant.

Ryan Delisle and Phil Heynen rounded out the top five. Twelve cars started the event which served as the season opener for both the track and the series which was the support class for the World of Outlaws sprint cars.

Weddle and Danell brought the field down for the start with Weddle taking an early advantage after the first turn.  But it would be Holland from her inside second row spot who would take over the lead on the second lap.

Defending Series Champion Kyle Rasmussen quickly moved into contention passing Weddle for second in the first turn. But two laps later, it would be Weddle who reclaimed the second spot meanwhile Holland was extending her lead as she worked slower cars.

Third-place Rasmussen’s race would come to an end when he slowed on the front stretch on the 12th circuit.  Blaine Fagundes’ race also slowed and pulled off the track.

On the restart, Delisle passed Danell to take over third.  On lap 14, Davey Pombo would bring out the red when he got upside down in the second turn.

Danell took third on the restart when he passed Delisle in the first turn.  On the next lap, Delisle would tag the first turn wall but kept going.

The caution flag waved a final time when Tyler Stidham spun coming out of the second turn.

Holland went on to win easily and was greeted by a large ovation for the only female sprint car driver racing this night.

The finish:

Brooklyn Holland, Richard Weddle, Connor Danell, Ryan Delisle, Phil Heynen, Kevin Barnes, Tyler Stidham, Davey Pombo, Kyle Rasmussen, Blaine Fagundes, Brandon Emmett, Brendan Warmerdam
