Waters Tops Mostert In Townsville Thriller

TOWNSVILLE, Australia — Polesitter Cam Waters has thrust himself back into the Repco Supercars Championship conversation after a decisive win in Saturday’s NTI Townsville 500 at Reid Park.

Waters made a late-race move on leader Chaz Mostert to secure his second win of the season and his third at Townsville.

Race 13 of the Supercars schedule was broadcast LIVE on SPEED SPORT 1.

“That was an awesome race, I had so many cool battles through the race,” Waters said. “Chazzie was probably quicker at the start of the stints and I was probably quicker at the end of the stints, and we had some epic battle out there, it was a lot of fun.

“My car was absolutely amazing on its tires so a massive thank you to all the boys and girls at Tickford for wheeling me out a fast car.”

After starting deep in the field in 13th, points leader Will Brown charged to the final podium position in third place.

With his remarkable drive, Brown has extended his points lead over Broc Feeney to 141 markers. Feeney placed seventh in the race. Mostert sits 270 points behind with Waters reclaiming fourth.

Nick Percat suffered the biggest loss on Saturday after getting caught up in a lap one accident. That dropped Percat from fourth to eighth in the standings.
