A Dominant Triple Crown Opener For Feeney

It was a dominant performance in the Darwin Triple Crown opener at Australia’s Hidden Valley Raceway by Broc Feeney.

The 11th round of the  Repco Supercars Championship saw Feeney overtake polesitter James Golding in the opening stint before scampering away form the remainder of the event. It Feeney’s fourth victory of the season.

“It was good hard racing with Jimmy there for the first few laps,” Feeney said. “I knew I had some really good speed, so I got the move done early and then this thing was a rocket ship.

“The last couple of rounds have been pretty tough, so to bounce back here with a big win is pretty awesome.”

Mark Winterbottom snagged the runner-up position, 8.676 seconds behind Feeney, while points leader Will Brown secured the final podium position in third.

Perhaps the drive of the day, however, came from Chaz Mostert. After starting deep in the field in 22nd, Mostert clawed his way to fifth position by race’s end.

Cam Waters, who initially place sixth, was demoted to 10th due to contact with Anton De Pasquale.

Reigning Supercars champion Brodie Kostecki wasn’t able to start the race due to stalling issues. He was set to start 11th in the event.

The top 10 shootout is set for at 10:00 p.m. ET on Saturday (Live on SPEED SPORT 1) and the finale on Sunday (1:40 a.m. ET on SPEED SPORT 1).
