PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports Debuts New Lineup For Sprint Races

MONTEREY, Calif. – PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports is going into the Hyundai Monterey Sports Car Championship Presented by Motul at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca with the No. 52 ORECA LMP2 07 entry featuring a new driver lineup, with 2020 WeatherTech LMP2 Champion, Patrick Kelly and rookie sensation, Josh Pierson stepping behind the wheel.

Kelly and Pierson will co-drive the No. 52 LMP2 entry for the sprint races of the IMSA WeatherTech Championship events, starting with this weekend’s Hyundai Monterey Sports Car Championship Presented by Motul at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, then the Lexus Grand Prix at Mid-Ohio May 13-15, and lastly the IMSA Sportscar Weekend at Road America in August 4-7.

“I think of PR1 Motorsports like family,” said Patrick Kelly. “Racing together again in IMSA brings a big smile to my face.”

“Looking forward to Laguna, and to be back in the car near home,” said Josh Pierson. “I’m very excited to see what we can do this weekend as a team. It will be my first short format race with IMSA and it’s going to be tough competing with the gold and platinum drivers, but I’m eager to give it a shot!”

“It’s great to have Pat back and being able to pair him up with Josh is such a great way to start the short event calendar for the No. 52 car,” said Team Principal Bobby Oergel. “I am very much looking forward to getting back on track!”
